As a coach team we feel it is important to have a plan and a goal for the term and every session. Of course we are flexible and change the goal of the session dependant on every players needs. We always want to hear what a group / team or individual player wants to improve to help us create a motivating environment. (PDF VERSION)

Week GAME SITUATION TACTICAL INTENTION CORE DRILL (MEASURABLE) PHYSICAL MENTAL SKILLS
1 Both back consistency & depth Rally consistency. Depth in the rally. Focus on height. Footwork and early preparation ·       Rally shots in a minute

5 /10 / 15 /20m Sprints Goals Set for the Autumn Season. Concentration – keep count in the rally
2 Both Back. Neutralise Hit a deep high all down the middle or x-court when under pressure ·       Player A feeds a tough ball into the space. Player B defends

·       Play point after a drop

Agility Sprints. Run from left side line then to right side line. Repeat x 2 Determination. Use  positive self talk.
3 Both Back – Rally Build

 

Hit away from the middle on rally or short balls. Create space With a circle in the middle play to the sides i.e. cross court / line of a weak rally ball in the middle. Squats – learn to create power from the legs Controlled Aggression. Be aggressive but still control the ball. Score / 5.
4 First Serve First serve percentage 70 or more % for first serve. Progress to Controlling wide or T serve. 10 Serves on Deuce / Ad side . Score / 10. Serve control Wide or T out of 10 on each side. Medicine Ball Overarm throws. (cm). Over arm throw. Shoulder Exercise Composure. Serve Routine to help control anxiety / excitement.

 

5 Second serve Return Attack the second Serve return into space 1 point = IN / 2 point = Build i.e. away from the middle Split step. Mini Hurdle Jumps for explosive movement. Goal set before the point. Have a intention before the start of the point.
6 APPROACH THE NET Approach short ball down the Line Approach into space (usually line). Build with volley into space. Points , triple points if you win with a volley Standing Broad Jump (Cm). Explosive leg power Risk taking. Learning to take a risk and being brave
7 OPPONENT APPROACHING BUILD CROSS COURT DOWN A THE FEET OPPONENT HIT DOWN THE LINE AND RECEIVER BUILDS LOW CROSS COURT LUNGE TECHNIQUE SCORE / 5 VISUALISATION. MENTALLY REPLAY YOUR BEST SHOTS.
8 OPPONENT APPROACHING LOB OF AN OPPONENTS APPROACH SHOT . IDEALLY ON BACKHAND SIDE NET PLAYER STARTS CLOSE TO NET. SUCCESFUL LOBS. SCORE / 5 VERTICAL JUMP TEST (CM) HIGH EFFORT. CHASE EVERYHTING DOWN
